It's hard to be unfamiliar with this smartphone. But there is something unique to the iPhone: Visual Voicemail. Although I'm sure that third-party headphone makers will create numerous excellent alternatives, the good news is that the iPhone's in-the-box earbuds are very good. Instead of dragging a scroll bar or clicking a mouse, you move through screens on the iPhone by a combination of taps, flicks, and other finger gestures. As a result, it's hard for me to put myself in the place of an accomplished Blackberry thumb typist who has spent a year honing his or her skills. But the iPhone's software, with remarkable consistency, knew what I had meant to type. For those reasons, the iPhone is noteworthy not for what it does, but how it does it. It fits comfortably in the hand and when held to the ear, and its 4.8 ounces give it a solid, if perhaps weighty, feel.

Best iPod Accessories

The only ports are the SIM card slot, standard 30 pin iPod connector and a 3.5mm stereo headset jack. There are no discounts or subsidies. We've seen some reports in other reviews of problems with these, but we absolutely had no problems with either. To scroll a page, simply drag your finger in the desired direction. Composing, filing and deleting email is simple. Apple's iPhone is a product that's been years in the making. On the iPhone's back face is the tiny lens of its compact, two-megapixel camera. That's because the iPhone's keyboard is a failure if taken literally. But a host of missing features, a dependency on a sluggish EDGE network, and variable call quality--it is a phone after all--left us wanting more.
The nice part is you'll still be eligible for a discounted (subsidized) phone at your original contract's end date, since you won't be getting that discount on the iPhone. Our iPhone's voice quality was good and volume was average. Like every other part of iPhone, it's surprisingly easy to use; iPhone provides implicit guidance every step of the way. Based on the same WebKit rendering engine as Safari for Mac and Windows, it rendered every web page we tried flawlessly. Still, the videos that did work (most of them) look great.
Apple has had more control over the iPhone's release and marketing than any other phone manufacturer. Customers are used being able to return a phone to the carrier within 14 days without a financial penalty if it didn't suit them. Setting up a conference call is trivial; gone are the days of "call me back if I lose you!" And, you can switch to speakerphone then use iPhone's Internet features while on a call (that is, if you have WiFi service; voice calls and EDGE data use the same data stream and don't share). iPhone's "intelligent keyboard" is outstanding. Although the iPhone is not without a few quirks, it makes good on the hype that surrounded it. And with the iPhone, Apple's hardware designers have once again wrapped the output of the company's in-house developers into a remarkable piece of hardware. At a generous 3.5 inches, the display takes full advantage of the phone's size, while its 480x320 pixel resolution (160 dots per inch) translates into brilliant colors, sharp graphics, and fluid movements. Tapping out messages was relatively quick, and we could tap the correct letter, even with big fingers.

iPod Nano 4GB

Large, easily readable and frankly friendly-looking buttons provide easy access to in-call tools. The experience is notably superior to smartphones including the Palm Treo and the Motorola Q. However, there are more iPod options than there is space for buttons, so a "more" button graces the corner — an unusual compromise in iPhone's otherwise well-designed user interface. Apple's designers have been working on it for years, and the Web has been buzzing about Apple's entry into the phone market for just as long—or maybe even longer. Although I'm sure that third-party headphone makers will create numerous excellent alternatives, the good news is that the iPhone's in-the-box earbuds are very good. The iPhone's designers seem to agree that typing is the best way to enter data on a small device, but they've ditched the physical keyboard and replaced it with more touchscreen space. That's because the iPhone's keyboard is a failure if taken literally.
We hope Apple ports a version of their iWork (Office compatible apps) soon. Composing, filing and deleting email is simple. Of course, the iPhone's screen isn't just for looking at: It's the key driver in the device's interface. In true Apple style, the iPhone's menu interface is attractive, intuitive, and easy to use.
The tiny camera lens is on the back. Push a paper clip into the tiny hole (it takes some force) to eject the tray and SIM card. Steve Jobs proudly described the iPod as a beautiful piece of hardware that had amazing software inside it. This feature is aimed at preventing you from accidentally pushing an on-screen button; you can still receive incoming calls when the phone's in this state. It doesn't zoom and doesn't work well in low light, but with still subjects in well-lit areas it produces nice results. The iPhone's keyboard excels when you ignore your mistakes and keep on typing, because it senses your finger presses, compares all the nearby keys to its built-in dictionary, and intuits what you're actually trying to type. Within a few hours with the iPhone, my finger was flying over the keyboard, and I'm sure my fingertip was only getting roughly close to the correct letter most of the time.
The SIM card tray is located on the phone's upper edge. iPhone provides basic email services. It uses predictive techniques both to improve keystroke accuracy and to correct typos. The iPod interface has remained basically unchanged since the first iPod was introduced in October 2001. Still, the videos that did work (most of them) look great. It doesn't zoom and doesn't work well in low light, but with still subjects in well-lit areas it produces nice results.

iPhone Speakers
By Admin | August 20, 2008
The dominant physical feature of the iPhone is its black glass face, punctuated by a single physical button on the bottom and a speaker slit near the top for listening to phone calls. It does take some getting used to, however. Don't get us wrong, the iPhone is a lovely device with a sleek interface, top-notch music and video features, and innovative design touches.
So we assume you know this is a unique touch screen phone with few buttons and a built-in iPod music and video player. You can turn this off if it bugs you, and you can turn WiFi off when not needed. iPhone provides basic email services. On the EDGE network, we usually got 140 to 160 Kbit/sec, though we sometimes saw lower speeds and sometimes saw as much as 190. But in iPhone's direct manipulation interface, Cover Flow feels natural, a good way to browse music.

iPod Shuffle Armband

Yes, this is an expensive product, but Apple and AT&T remind us that it's a phone, an iPod and a PDA in one. This is both good and bad: you choose your plan at home without any pressure from sales staff. The SIM card is located at the top edge of the phone, and you must stick a paper clip in the tiny hole to eject the SIM card tray. Push a paper clip into the tiny hole (it takes some force) to eject the tray and SIM card. No surprise that it doesn't support Windows Media Player videos either. Song lyrics are not available. It's too bad that a clunky add-on accessory will be necessary for aficionados of high-quality headphones to use the iPod features of the iPhone. Jamming that many pixels together in such a small space means that everything on screen looks smooth, not pixelated. It does take some getting used to, however. Icons for the phone menu, the mail folder, the Safari Web browser, and the iPod player sit at the bottom of the screen, while other features such as the camera, the calendar, and the settings are displayed above.
Safari is where iPhone shines. We were simply stunned at how good pages look, and how very readable they are.
No surprise that it doesn't support Windows Media Player videos either. But it's enough of an issue that Apple includes a small black chamois cloth in the iPhone box, and the image-conscious iPhone owner will want to give their screen a good wipe-down often. There's a bit of a learning curve when it comes to using the iPhone's keyboard, especially for people who are comfortable using the physical keyboard on a Blackberry, Treo, or other smart phone.
iPhone's zoom gestures are the key to making the Web usable. The original Macintosh changed the world by providing a physical control to move a cursor around on a computer interface. But the iPhone does it one better—instead of pushing around a mouse in order to make a disembodied arrow or hand move up on the computer screen, it's your finger doing all the moving. But I believe that most users—even thumb typists, given an open mind and some training time—will find the iPhone's keyboard to be excellent. It does take some getting used to, however. Tapping out messages was relatively quick, and we could tap the correct letter, even with big fingers.
